Thought I’d be Writing a Desperate Plea for Help and Prayers, Instead I Have Good(-ish) News to Share

A whimsical drawing I made while getting a cancer treatment. Doodling, which is my name for making art (the word “art” intimidates me), makes everything better. Kind words and hugs do too. And staying off my cell phone.

The sound: A sharp knock on the door.

The visual: A driver bounding down the porch steps back to his truck.

The item in front of the door: A FedEx package of papers from my health insurance company.

Package after package came in the mail right before and after Christmas.

None of these packages were gifts.

Just the opposite.
