Walking soccer, a trend in Europe, is also taking off among seniors in the United States. Staying active and participating in team sports is good for the soul.
😂 you are not a lazy bum, you’re a bad ass hiker and amazingly prolific writer. I can’t say I’m feeling great. But soccer definitely helps. As do puppies…
Seniors pickleball is also fun. :) I am not yet a senior, but I am playing with senior friends who outplay me every time! It is all about staying active and connected with communities. I will definitely try walking soccer if it comes to a field near me.... and the skilled seniors deign to let me play. :)
So inspiring!!! I’m going to search “walking soccer” in Coeur d’Alene. I’m nearly 2 weeks post op from a total knee replacement - getting a glimpse of the light at the tunnel’s end.
Check back and let us know what you find, Lisa. I think Carl first got the game started via OLLI. OLLI is the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Carl offered a class in soccer skills. I started playing soccer with some older folks after an enterprising senior named Holly put out a call on NextDoor for women of a certain age who would like to play. I wasn't quite old enough but Holly was happy to have me since I had a little more soccer experience than most of the older ladies. And I think Carl found me through Holly's small group. It didn't continue but it was so much fun while it lasted.
I always love learning something new, and the grit and humor in your writing always lifts the spirits, thank you for guiding me toward another slow tending life activity, nothing better for the soul…
You really leave the rest of us lazy bums with no excuses. Glad you had fun and felt better for playing!

I wanted to be out there on the field having some stinking fun oxygenating my blood
Come with me next Saturday. ⚽️ ❤️
